SANDRINGHAM HOME

In a recent project in the heart of Sandringham, Auckland, a modest bungalow underwent a thoughtful extension and transformation with Architecture by Four Walls with construction by Rusa Construction. The original home, simple and quietly composed, provided a solid foundation for a contemporary reinterpretation that prioritised comfort without compromising character. Respecting the architectural restraint of the existing structure, the interior design introduced modern conveniences and spatial clarity while echoing the home's original proportions and material sensibilities.

The interiors are a clean backdrop for the clients’ art collection. A refined and timeless palette anchors the space—subdued neutrals, warm timber finishes, and subtle textures offer a calming counterpoint to the graphic intensity of the artworks. Natural light plays a crucial role, with carefully framed views and soft transitions between old and new enhancing the feeling of openness. The result is a bright, fresh family home that seamlessly blends traditional elements with a crisp modern aesthetic.
